Kyle Fairchild
Kyle
Fairchild is a leading expert in the commercialisation of technology and
research & development. He is the principal at the London based firm, Fairchild Innovation
Consulting.
Kyle’s
previous experience includes 17 years at NASA (the National Aeronautics and
Space Administration). Before joining the private sector, he was NASA's Deputy Director
for Operations in Russia. Among
other accomplishments, Kyle was instrumental in the development and
implementation of NASA’s technology transfer program.
Whilst at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Kyle was responsible for
assessing and exploiting the commercial potential of existing and emerging NASA
technologies, and for developing viable commercial products and services.
The methodologies and practices established by Kyle and his team have
been widely adopted throughout NASA.
Whilst at
NASA, Kyle also managed advanced planning projects for future space activities
that including space transportation, lunar settlements and Mars bases. These projects involved defining and developing future
technologies, and forging new relationships between the public, private,
academic and international communities.
Kyle has also
served as a member of the U.S. Diplomatic Corp in Moscow, where he was
responsible for the astronauts and support staff in Russia who were training for
service aboard the International Space
Station.
Kyle has
Bachelors and Masters degrees in Aerospace Engineering from the University of
Minnesota, and a Masters degree in Management from the London Business School,
where he is a Sloan Fellow. Kyle
was formerly Adjunct Professor of Management at the University of Houston, and
was also on the faculties of the International Space University and the University of
Minnesota.
